Sprig: the best AI tool for in-product surveys
Looking for the best AI tool for in-product surveys? Sprigwas one of Signal Brief’s five picks in Issue #008 — our daily rundown of AI tools for B2B SaaS product managers. Here is why we picked it, the original issue lines, and our full commentary.
Why we picked Sprig
IN-PRODUCT RESEARCHA Signal Brief pick because it asks 'why' at the exact moment a user drops off, instead of waiting for feedback to arrive on its own.
- WHAT IT IS — ISSUE LINES, VERBATIM
- An in-product research platform that targets micro-surveys and session replays at exact product moments, with AI synthesizing open-text responses into ranked themes.
- WHY IT MATTERS FOR PMS
- Continuous discovery stops being a calendar event — PMs can ask "why" inside the funnel step that dropped and get synthesized answers the same week.
Our take, from the rated issue
Sprig took a slot in Issue 008 for fixing a gap none of the feedback-synthesis tools in the ranked 15 close: they all read feedback that already exists. Sprig creates it, on purpose, at the moment it matters — an in-product research platform that targets micro-surveys and session replays at exact product moments, with AI synthesizing the open-text responses into ranked themes automatically.
The job this fills is distinct from Kraftful, ranked eighth, which mines reviews, tickets, and surveys that already sit in a pile. Sprig instead lets a PM ask a live question inside the funnel step that just dropped a user — 'what stopped you here?' — and get a synthesized theme back within the week instead of waiting for that user to file a ticket or leave a review. Continuous discovery stops being a quarterly research push and becomes something you can trigger the same day a metric moves.
The caveat is survey fatigue: a product that pops a question at every hesitation trains users to click past it, so targeting has to be deliberate and rare enough to earn a real answer. And like every feedback tool, the synthesis is only as sharp as the question asked. Used sparingly and well-aimed, though, it is the fastest way we've seen to turn a funnel drop-off into an answer instead of a guess.
